Area residents can take a dip and watch a flick at the Family Dive-In from 7:30 to 10 p.m. today at Carl Levin Pool.

Along with adult residents who pay entry fees of $3, Heights children and senior residents who pay $2 can watch “Hotel Transylvania,” eat snacks and swim.

July’s Family Dive-In drew more than 250 people, said recreation aide Taylor Knaresboro. The monthly events usually attract young people ages 2 to 18 and their parents.

The city has hosted dive-ins during the past five summers, and the event grows every year, she said. In July, the city bought food for 400 people, and this month’s attendees will be able to sample about four food options.

“The first Family Dive-In, we had barely anyone, and it just gets more popular,” Knaresboro said.

“We’ve gotten better with our movie choices, made them more kid-friendly. We aimed them toward younger kids, which brings the families out more often. We try to focus our attention on young military families.”

The event is open to everyone. Prices for nonresidents are $3 for children, $5 for adults and $2 for seniors.

Carl Levin Pool is at 400 Miller’s Crossing, Harker Heights.
