Tickets are available for the Children’s Advocacy Center of Central Texas’ Divine Desserts fundraiser Thursday at Tenroc Ranch in Salado.
Executive Director Michelle Carter said Wednesday that the dinner part of the annual event is sold out. Divine Desserts features an array of sweet treats from local eateries and raises funds and awareness of child abuse.
“We talk about the issues of child abuse during the night of the event, which is important in bringing awareness to the community,” Carter said. “We need the funds in order for us to continue the work that we do.”
Featuring live music from local band The GTOs and auctions, the fundraiser promises to entertain as well as raise awareness. The Children’s Advocacy Center is a nonprofit that advocates for abused and neglected children in the community and provides support for those who are forced into the system.
“We rely on the community because 45 percent of our budget has to come from them,” Carter said. “In the past, we’ve raised close to $30,000 from this event.”
Divine Desserts begins at 8 p.m. Thursday. Tickets are $50 a person and $90 a couple.
In conjunction with the fundraiser, the Children’s Advocacy Center will raffle off three luxury vacations to the first 100 bidders, Carter said.
