It’s that time of year again where it’s OK to get fresh.

The fourth annual Harker Heights Farmers Market opens for the season Saturday.

The market will be open from 8 a.m. to noon every Saturday until Oct. 25 on the lawn in front of Seton Medical Center Harker Heights.

The market will feature Texas-grown produce, homemade granola, soaps, art, local honey and a variety of other homemade baked goods and treats.

“The market’s ‘Buy local. Experience community,’ motto hopes to attract unique vendors to sell products only found at the Harker Heights Farmers Market,” said Heather Cox, activities coordinator.

The market was established in 2011 and has since grown from four vendors to more than 30.

“The city is excited to once again partner with Seton,” Cox said. “The new hospital has been extremely generous in allowing us to use their property every Saturday to host the farmers market.”

The Harker Heights Farmers Market is still accepting applications for vendors. Call 254-953-5493 or go to www.ci.harker-heights.tx.us/parks for a complete list of products available for sale this season.

“The Harker Heights Farmers Market provides a venue where local farmers, producers and artisans can come together to provide a variety of fresh produce and related products directly to the consumer,” Cox said.

“The market will encourage direct communication between consumers and growers and fosters social gathering and community building.”
