The Harker Heights Lions Club honored past president Susan Goodwill for her service to the club and the community during its first gathering in 2014 on Wednesday.
Over lunch, the group conducted regular business including a presentation from Goodwill on the donation the club made to a child through the Communities in Schools program during Christmas.
President Andrea Womack also shared the results of the Santa Pal program with club members. The program distributed food and toys to 138 families, for a total of 514 people.
Members agreed to assist the Killeen Noon Lions Club’s cystic fibrosis project by making a monetary donation.
The Heights club will celebrate its fifth year of service to the community at a “birthday bash” at 5 p.m. Feb. 15 at Zum Edelweiss German Restaurant in Heights. Special guests will be members of the Noon and Evening Lions Clubs.
Future service projects include cleaning up Indian Trail, which the club adopted in 2012. The next road clean up is set for 8 a.m. Jan. 25 beginning at the Shell Station at the corner of Indian Trail and Central Texas Expressway.
Local Lions clubs will host the Lions International District Convention April 11-13 at the Courtyard by Marriott in Killeen.
The next meeting is Jan. 22. The guest speaker will be Sam Lindsey, global membership trainer.
