Destiny Ford, 17, is a senior at Harker Heights High and lives in Harker Heights.

What brought you to the area?

My father was stationed here at Fort Hood in 2005. We came from Germany.

Tell me about your family.

My mother is an assistant principal at Mountain View Elementary School; her name is Stephanie Ford. My dad is a small-business owner; he runs Canopy Consulting. His name is Dwayne Ford. I have an older sister named Ebony Ford; she is a teacher in New York. I have an older brother who is an artist in California; his name is Devin Roger. And I have a younger brother who is a junior at Harker Heights High. His name is Dwayne Ford III.

What is your favorite restaurant in Harker Heights?

My favorite restaurant in Harker Heights is Cheddars.  I am a huge fan of their chicken alfredo.

What store is your favorite place to shop at in Harker Heights?

My favorite place to shop at in Harker Heights is Maurice’s.

What activities are you a part of at Harker Heights High?

 I am the president of student council, which governs the entire student body of Harker Heights High. I am a member of the National Honor Society. I am in theater. I am in a group in Harker Heights High Knights of Round Table. It is a collaboration of student leaders of Harker Heights High School and Harker Heights city officials.

What community work do you do?

National Society of High School scholars — I do community service with them. I do some activities in the library and I partner with them and do activities in the surrounding areas.

What do you like about Harker Heights High?

I like the teachers at Harker Heights High; they are amazing.

If you could bring anything new to Harker Heights, what would it be?

I would bring a student forum where students can come out and speak about what is happening in the area.

What will you graduate with?

I will graduate Distinguished Level of Achievement. I rank 46th out of 579 in my class.

What awards have you received?

I have received National Debate Association Award, the National Forensic Award.

League debate falls under this.

What school would you like to attend?

 I would like to attend University of Texas at Austin.

What was the last book that you read?

The last book that I read was “Beowulf.”  

What was the last movie that you saw?

The last movie that I saw was “The Shallow.”

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

In 10 years, I see myself as a lawyer in a nice, successful law firm.

What advice would you give your younger self?

I would tell my younger self to always remain confident. If you’re confident, everything works out well in the end.
