The fourth annual Hope for Haiti Benefit Dinner sponsored by the Central Texas Ministerial Alliance will be at 5 p.m. April 13 at St. Paul Chong Hasang Catholic Church Parish Center in Harker Heights.

The guest speaker will be Dr. Lord Michael Hunt, International Hope for Haiti coordinator. Proceeds from the event will be contributed to continuing awareness for Haiti and funding for a school that the Central Texas Ministerial Alliance supports in Marmalade, Haiti.

“Our organization’s main focus is to help the children … to give them hope in a hopeless situation,” said Pastor Virgil Allgood, president of the ministerial alliance.

The alliance used to focus on helping local communities rather than overseas endeavors, until they met Hunt about four years ago, Allgood said.

“(He) had a passion for Haiti … he transferred that passion onto us,” Allgood said. “We have been connected ever since. We continue to work together in working passionately in helping a situation of poverty that is bigger than anything we’ve ever seen.”

About 150 to 250 people are expected to attend the benefit dinner catered by Let Us Do The Cooking of Killeen. Tickets are $50.

St. Paul Chong Hasang is at 1000 E. Farm-to-Market 2410, Harker Heights. For more information, call Allgood at (254) 368-6400.
