A crew of 14 judges circled the city Dec. 10 and 11 checking out Christmas decorations and choosing their favorites for the city’s annual Heights Lights on Parade contest.
After ballots were tallied, 14 entries won prizes for their Christmas decorating skills.
“The scores came close in many of the divisions,” said Nichole Broemer, Harker Heights recreation and events coordinator.
The contest drew more entries this year, with 25 compared to last year’s 20. A business also entered the contest, which was a first.
“No businesses entered last year,” Broemer said before judging began.
Barker Heights Bed and Biscuit took top honors for businesses.
