Nasia Murray, 35, of Harker Heights is owner of Hamilton Mediation and Arbitration.
How long have you been a resident of Harker Heights?
I have been a resident of the surrounding area for well over a few years, and I must say I have enjoyed my stay.
What do like most about your neighborhood?
I love how friendly people are and how willing they are to assist you whenever necessary.
Who is Nasia?
I am a woman, a mother, a wife, a friend, confidant and I am a daughter of God. I don’t mind letting people see who I am. I don’t mind opening myself up to allow people to see that I am human and flawed but very real.
What do you do in your spare time?
I love going to church and spending time with friends and family. I also enjoy singing and praying to God, talking with him about the things that I arbitrate as well as those things that make up my own life.
What is important to you?
My relationship with God, my family, friends, peace of mind, and of course, my children and husband.
What motivated you to create your mediation business?
I have always hated confrontation; moreover, I believe that if a situation is handled in the most effective manner we would see a decrease in the escalation to larger, more violent situations. I felt that many people do not know that mediation is an option when people have a dispute. The ability to resolve conflict is a lost art to many. Most people call a lawyer or go through litigation, which is stressful, expensive and time consuming. Mediation is flexible, private, affordable and creative as well as an educational tool.
Do you apply what you have learned with mediation to situations in your own family?
Yes I do. There are times when a situation can get elevated and out of control. It’s during these times that I utilize my skills as a mediator guiding my family to their resolution. How I approach the conflict or dispute completely depends on the problem/situation at hand and individuals involved.
