Clint Cepeda, 39, is a personal trainer and owner of Fitness Science 21 in Harker Heights.

How long have you lived in Harker Heights?

I have lived here since 2007.

What do you like about Harker Heights?

I like that it is a convenient distance from the big cities like Austin and Dallas. The area has the right amount of space to be away from the hustle and bustle of a big city.

Where are you from and what brought you to the area?

I am originally from Hawaii. Graduate school is why I came here. I started off at Tarleton, and then I applied to law school. I quit Tarleton and then went to Michigan and finished my graduate degree in exercise science in injury prevention at CALU in Pennsylvania.

Tell me about your family.

I have been married for one year. I have three boys, Dillon, 20, Ethan, 5, and Emery, 11 months. I am truly blessed to have the job that I have. I am able to see my family more. I like being able to spend time with them, being with them and not just waiting until the weekend to be able to spend time with them. If my kids have a school event I can change my schedule and not miss the event. I get to work around my family’s schedule instead of them working around mine.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

Personally, I see myself watching my kids play sports as they get older. Professionally, I see myself expanding to be a mentor to other trainers. I want to do a seminar where I speak to people about the ins and outs of the workout business. I also hope I am finished with the book I am writing.

What was the best advice you were ever given?

Dare to be great. This advice was given to me from my best friend in college.
