Kyle Shawna Olivas, 28, works in Harker Heights as a independent photographer and is the owner of Oh-Livas Photography.
How long have you had your own company?
I opened my photography business (last) summer.
How long have you lived in the Harker Heights area?
I moved here from Arizona in June 2012.
Tell me about your family.
I have a brother and two sisters. My brother, Matt, is in the Navy. My oldest sister, Kendra, recently moved for a job promotion to California, and my youngest sister, Kayla, lives in Houston. My mother and father live in Tucson, Ariz., where we grew up. My mother delivers mail and my dad recently retired from the U.S. Postal Service.
Where are you from?
I was born and raised in Tucson and went to college in Silver City, N.M., on a softball scholarship.
Are you married?
I married my best friend in June 2012. My husband, Miguel, and stepchildren lived here already due to the military. I have three stepchildren, Elysia, 12, Jacquelyn, 11, and Carlos, 9, who have so graciously welcomed me with open arms since day one. They are three of the sweetest, most caring people I know. My husband and I have a beautiful daughter, Giselle, who just turned 1 last week.
What is your favorite vacation spot?
That would be a toss-up. Either camping in the woods with family on a hunting trip ... or the beach because it is beautiful and the ocean is always a ton of fun.
If you could do anything to improve life in Harker Heights, what would it be?
I would love to offer a program to help people learn and get involved with their creative side and teach them about photography and seeing life’s beauty.
What community work do you do? Are you a part of any organizations or clubs?
In Arizona I was a big sister for Big Brothers, Big Sisters, and my husband and I are fundraising chairpersons for my son’s Cub Scout pack. I am involved with both my stepdaughters’ Girl Scout troops and stepson’s Cub Scout troop. My family and I are members of Destiny World Outreach Center in Killeen.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
Enjoying a ranch home in the country with my handsome husband and loving children and having a photography studio on the property.
