Yuko Roblez, 33, works at Vino Pizza in Harker Heights and lives in Killeen.
Where are you from?
I am originally from San Antonio.
What brought you to the area?
The military brought me here in 2001. My brother asked me to move here to watch over his house while he was gone. My brother was a recruiter for the Army. My ex-husband was his first recruit, and that is how we met.
Tell me about your family.
I have an 8-year-old son named Kiyoshi. I have four sisters and two brothers, some by blood and some by marriage, however, we are all still family. We are a very open family. We have lots of different races in our family and we love everybody. My family is pretty laid back and we spend lots of time together.
What do you like about your job?
I like the small atmosphere of the restaurant. The people are cool here and very nice to work for. I enjoy helping people.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
I see myself owning my own home and being happy.
What advice would you give to a single mom?
I would let them know that they are not alone; there is always help out there. Keep your head up! It is good to have a routine and a tight schedule. Stick to that schedule, and never take on more than you can handle.
What is the best advice you were ever given?
Always be ahead of the game and “you don’t do what you want to do, you do what you have to do.” This is from my dad.
