The Harker Heights Chamber of Commerce has announced that tickets for its 29th Annual Awards Banquet are now on sale.

The theme of the banquet is “Hats Off to You!” and the event is scheduled for Oct. 23, at the Killeen Civic and Conference Center.

The social hour begins at 6 p.m.

Dinner is at 6:45 p.m., followed by the presentation of awards.

Reserved tables are available for $500. Individual tickets are $55.

Gina Pence, president and CEO of the chamber, said, “We thought our theme was a good way to set the stage for expressing thanks to the people, organizations and businesses who do so much to promote our community and make it a great place to live.”

During the awards ceremony, the Harker Heights Police Department will award its officer of the year.

The Harker Heights Fire Department will present its fireman/paramedic of the year.

The chamber will present the following awards: Citizen of the Year (in honor of the late Linda Neault), Small Business of the Year, Large Business of the Year, Community Partner of the Year, Chamber Ambassador of the Year and the Kern/Cox Award.

Leadership of the Chamber board will be passed to Dr. Jim Anderson, retired chancellor of Central Texas College. Anderson succeeds Jim McKinnon, whose term as president of the board of directors ends in October.
