Harker Heights Water Department recently earned the Total Coliform Rule Program Award from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, Public Drinking Water Section, according to City Manager Steve Carpenter.

The award recognizes public water systems that have 24 consecutive months without any laboratory testing violations. The department received the same award in 2010 and also in 2006 when the award criteria was for 60 consecutive months without any laboratory testing violations.

“We appreciate the dedication of our water distribution employees toward protecting the public health of Harker Heights’ citizens,” Carpenter said.
