What is your job in Harker Heights?
I am the co-chairman of Black Women in Business, the Killeen Chapter. Our Hub Center where we have our meetings is at the E Center in Harker Heights. I am also CNA at Scott and White Hospital in Temple.
Tell me about your family.
I am the baby, the youngest. I have an older brother age 53. I have three children, ages 28, 26 and 7. I have a beautiful mother whose name is Laura Thomas.
Where are you from originally?
I am originally from Easton, Maryland.
What brought you to the area?
My ex-brother-in-law was in the military and was stationed at Fort Hood, so we moved here in 2007 to be with family.
What do you like about Harker Heights?
I like that it is convenient for everything and the schools seem really good.
What do you dislike about Harker Heights?
I don’t like that it is expensive to live here.
What is your favorite restaurant in Harker Heights?
My favorite restaurant in Harker Heights is Cheddar’s.
What is your favorite store to shop at in Harker Heights?
My favorite store to shop at in Harker Heights is Ross.
What community work do you do?
I host Di’vas of Faith Coffee / Tea Talk every Wednesday at 9 a.m. at the Coffee Beanery on Clear Creek Road in Killeen. The tea is a place where women can come talk freely with other women and be empowered. It breaks the barriers of not knowing anyone in the area.
What was the last book that you read?
The last book that I read was “The Shack” by WM. Paul Young.
What was the last movie that you saw?
The last movie that I saw was “Girl Trip.” This movie was hilarious.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
In 10 years, I see myself as self employed and helping other women to be self-employed.
