Singers and musicians gathered at the Exalted Praise Worship Center in Harker Heights on June 13 to be a part of the first Sound of Worship Music Experience.

Bishop Haywood Polk and his wife, Sherry Polk, led the congregation at the worship center.

“We love to praise the Lord with the community,” Polk said.

Musicians and singers came from as far away as Austin and Dallas to be a part of the experience.

Apostle Duane Green was the guest speaker for the event. Greene is a member of the New Life Restoration Church in Austin.

“This event helps empower musicians to use their gifts on a community level,” Greene said, adding that the event featured a full praise band, choirs, and the crowd singing and worshipping right along with the musicians.

Corrine Washington of Killeen came to be a part of the music event.

“I want to be a part of the presence of God,” Washington said.

Barbara Moore was the host for the event and is a friend of the Polks.

“You can’t have a worship experience without music,” Washington said.

The event also included a dinner and door prize giveaways.

Polk and his wife have been pastors at Exalted Praise Worship Center for eight years.

“We are the first church to hold an event like this in our area,” Polk said, adding that they hope to make this an annual event.
