Roadwork starts Monday in Heights

On Monday, the Harker Heights street department will install concrete valley gutters in the street at the intersection of Lakefront and Rustler Circle in the Ridge Subdivision.

Work starts at 7 a.m. and ends at 4 p.m. through Friday. One lane of traffic will be allowed through, but drivers should expect delays. The city asks drivers to follow the instruction of the flaggers on site.

Recycle Christmas trees in Heights

Harker Heights residents with a photo ID and current water bill can recycle their Christmas trees at the transfer station/recycling center at 1761 Farm-to-Market 2410 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Tuesday, Thursday, Fridays or Saturdays. For more information, call City Hall at (254) 953-5600.

Nutrition talk scheduled for Jan. 12 in Temple

A nutrition presentation entitled “Cravings, Weight Gain, and the Blood Sugar Roller Coaster” will be presented at 10 a.m. Jan. 12 in the meeting room at Natural Grocers, 3621 S. General Bruce Dr, Temple.

The 50-minute presentation will cover balancing insulin and blood sugar, gaining control over cravings, and eating strategies and other tips for healthy weight. Questions will be taken after the presentation and attendees will receive a packet of information to take home. No reservations are required.
