Harker Heights Parks & Recreation is hosting two dog events for 2017.

Bring out your dogs and enjoy a day at Purser Family Park for Paws in the Park. This free, fun and dog-friendly event for all ages will include activities such as agility course, pet adoptions, contests, pet services/products, and more.

The event will be on Saturday, April 29, at Purser Family Park, 100 W. Mountain Lion from 2 to 5 p.m.

Enter your furry friend in one of the five contests: Best Trick, Best Dressed, Dog & Owner Look-A-Like, and Smallest & Largest Dog.

Enjoy free drinks while supplies last during Yappy Hour starting at 2 p.m. sponsored by Pepsi Beverages Company Killeen MEM HUB.

Bring a new pet item or food to donate at the Harker Heights Pet Adoption booth during the event. Pet-related items and concessions available to purchase during the event.

Dogs must be on a leash outside the dog park fence area.

Nichole Broemer, Recreation & Events coordinator, said the previous event named Puppypalooza has become two events — Paws in the Park, and Pooch Pool PAW-TY.

She said, “We want to offer two separate events for our furry citizens with one offered in the Spring at our city’s dog park with contests, vendors and activities and the other at the end of the Summer.”

Broemer said, “Part of Puppypalooza everyone enjoyed was the dog swim at the public pool. We will still offer the pool to the dogs on the last day of the pool season for a Pooch Pool PAW-TY on Sunday, Aug. 27.”
