Freddy’s Frozen Custard and Steakburgers in Harker Heights brought Santa Claus to town Saturday afternoon to greet about 75 children and make Christmas crafts.

The four-hour event featured time with Santa, a craft table with various activities, and a free raffle for children to submit one ticket to enter for two Christmas gift baskets.

General Manager Amanda Whitmire said she enjoyed the reactions of the children that came out to see Santa with their families.

“I love getting to see the kids come in and their excitement of Santa,” she said. “It was nice to get kids out here to interact with one another, participate, and have a good time.”

Whitmire’s daughter Serenity Jade, 2, made crafts and told Santa her biggest wish.

“I made a reindeer and did coloring,” she said. “I asked Santa for a purple pony.”

Jonas Spelman, a Freddy’s employee and Houston native, said he loved playing Santa.

“I’ve gotten to put some smiles on kids’ faces today, so that was pretty cool,” he said, chuckling. “I like the sense of joy and togetherness during the holidays around here, it’s always nice to have.”

Freddy’s is located at 490 E. Farm-to-Market 2410, Harker Heights.
