At least eight thefts were reported in Harker Heights in the past week, and most involved businesses, said Sgt. Roosevelt Wilson Jr., Harker Heights Police Department spokesman.

“Most of the thefts that occurred were of the shoplifting category where persons were seeking an area of opportunity,” he said. “Property crimes as a whole were down throughout the city of Harker Heights, due in most part to the concerted efforts of the patrol division.”

The stolen items have not been recovered and no arrests have been made. Police have not said if the thefts are related, but continue to ask the public for assistance in solving the cases.

“As always, report any suspicious activity to your local police department,” Wilson said. “Even the most innocent appearing act can be a potential crime in progress.”
