Although summer heat is still burning, high school students’ opportunities for beach trips, house parties and late weeknights are drawing to a close.
Harker Heights High School will host Student Readiness for sophomores, juniors and seniors from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday. Students can attend either day.
School heads will distribute textbooks, schedules, general information and identification cards. Students are required to follow dress code for ID photos.
Students should bring a locker lock, deposit money for lunch accounts, money for spirit items sold by organizations and $10 for a parking permit, which requires proof of insurance and a valid driver’s license. The school will collect any previous fines before students can proceed.
Freshman orientation, or Knight Camp, will be Thursday at Harker Heights High School. Students with last names A-L should go from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m., and those with last names M-Z should go from 1 to 4 p.m. Teachers will divide incoming freshmen into groups and show them life at the high school.
Knight Camp will comprise a campus introduction, followed by icebreakers, club recruitment, leadership and team-building exercises, and distribution of ID’s, schedules, textbooks, locker assignments, and lunch and bus info.
Parents and guardians must pick up their children by 11:30 a.m. or 4 p.m., depending on the session.
