A leadership symposium is being offered next month to local residents and business owners through the cooperative efforts of the Harker Heights Chamber of Commerce and Jim Crothers of Temple, an independent certified member of the John Maxwell Team, along with four members of the John Maxwell Team of New York.

Live2Lead will be a rebroadcast via satellite, scheduled for 9 a.m.-1 p.m., Jan. 24 at the Harker Heights Activities Center in the Stewart C. Meyer Public Library, 400 Indian Trail.

Speakers featured on the rebroadcast will include John C. Maxwell, leadership expert and “New York Times” Best Selling Author and Coach, Dave Ramsey, personal money management expert and best-selling author; Warrick Dunn, a former NFL running back and partner of the Atlanta Falcons; and Cheryl Bachelder, former CEO of Popeye’s Louisiana Kitchens Inc.

“Live2Lead is a leader development experience designed to equip people with new perspectives, practical tools and key takeaways,” Jim Crothers said.

Crothers is the regional logistical contact for the John Maxwell Team and assists in setting up events like the Live2Lead meeting in Harker Heights.

Crothers, who is also an independent certified coach, teacher and speaker with the John Maxwell Team, told the Herald, “Where there is a vacuum of non-leadership, needless to say, the organization falls apart. Leaders offer influence and that’s what we provide for small and large businesses.

Mary Shabunia, chamber vice president of business development, took part in this leadership event a few months ago and told the Herald, “It gave me the chance to look at my own leadership style and that’s important. It also motivated me to grow as a leader and have a positive attitude.”

Crothers said, “This is a great opportunity right here in our own backyard to take home the meaning of my core value which is, ‘Everything rises and falls on leadership.’ Small-business owners, especially those who could not afford to travel and hear these presenters at a conference, can take advantage of this broadcast.”

A table of eight for the event is $300 with individual tickets set at $40, and there will also be a brunch included.

For ticket information, contact the chamber at 254-699-4999 or Jean@hhchamber.com.

“Participants will come away from this event encouraged, empowered and with an I can do it attitude. They’ll also be saying that I will step up to the plate and you can count on me,” Carothers said.
