Harker Heights City Councilmen on Tuesday unanimously approved the Planning and Zoning Commission’s recommendation of a preliminary plat for construction of a Mormon church on Verna Lee Boulevard.
The proposed 6.95-acre plat, called the Verna Lee Church Addition, was revised to accommodate a sewer line extension. It is roughly bounded by Antelope Trail, Ramblewood Drive and Verna Lee and will sit across from the Grove at Whitten Place.
Fred Morris, director of planning and development, said staff received the application form, preliminary plat drawing and construction plans Feb. 25.
“Review comments were received and returned to JDJR Engineers and Consultant Inc., on March 11,” he said. “The revised plat and site construction plans were received March 19 and a second review confirmed that all previously noted staff comments have been properly addressed.”
JDJR Engineers and Consultant Inc., is the agent for the Corporation of the Presiding Bishop of the Church of Jesus Christ and Latter-day Saints. The church has not filed its permits.
