Seton Medical Center Harker Heights encourages everyone to “get up and move” as it joins the American Heart Association in celebrating National Walking Day on Tuesday.
The American Heart Association encourages all Americans to lace up their sneakers and take at least 30 minutes out of their day to walk.
“Step by step, day after day, you walk to make progress. This is a day to challenge ourselves and our nation to get heart healthy and fit,” said Belinda Richardson, senior human resource generalist at Seton Medical Center. “Every day we take thousands of steps to get where we need to go.
“Now we can take steps toward a healthier workplace and support the American Heart Association.”
The hospital’s Wellness Committee will host its own walking day event from noon to 1 p.m. by the statue in front of the women’s entrance.
“Come and join us when you can and for as long as you can; the AHA recommends 30 minutes,” Richardson said. “We will be walking the 2014 Heart Walk route around the perimeter of the hospital.”
