Council awards manhole contract

Harker Heights City Council members Tuesday awarded a manhole rehabilitation contract to National Power Rodding Corporation in the amount of $384,100.00.

The bidding process began when the city advertised the project Sept. 15 and Sept. 17. A total of seven bids were received to rehabilitate 71 manholes in sanitary sewer basins 4 and 9 along Roy Reynolds Drive, according to Mark Hyde, public works director. The project also includes addressing 17 manholes in sewer basins 2,9,11 and 17 and replacing one in sewer basin 11.

Holiday farmers market Dec. 6

Harker Heights will hosts its third annual Holiday Farmers Market from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Dec. 6 at the Harker Heights Community Park, 1501 E. Farm-to-Market 2410. The Holiday Farmers Market will feature unique holiday gifts, handmade crafts, pies and fall fruits and vegetables. Cash is the preferred form of payment. City seeks donations for Giving Tree

The city of Harker Heights is partnering with the Killeen Independent School District and the Homeless Awareness Response Program to provide local children with gifts for the holidays. Those who would like to adopt a child will be provided with each child’s age, shoe and clothing sizes and wish list items. To adopt a child from the Giving Tree, call Heather Cox at 254-953-5493 or email Gifts, wrapped or unwrapped, must be dropped off at the Activities Center by Dec. 13.

Holiday parade Dec. 7

The second annual Central Texas First Responders Holiday Parade will be at 1 p.m., Dec. 7. The parade will start on Avenue G and make its way down Avenue H toward 10th Street ending at 1200 N. 10th St. For more information, call the Nolanville Police Department at 254-698-6334.

Lighting contest in Nolanville

Residents are encouraged to light up Nolanville for the holidays. An award will be given to the top three best holiday decorated homes in Nolanville. Judging will take place Dec. 12 and winners will be recognized at the City Council meeting 6 p.m. Dec. 19. Call City Hall at 254-698-6335.
