Thanksgiving holiday closures
In observance of Thanksgiving the following offices will be closed until Monday:
City Hall offices, Municipal Court and Utility Services, the Parks and Recreation building and the Activities Center.
Garbage collection will be delayed one day. Thursday routes will be collected today. Friday and Saturday routes will be collected Saturday.
Eating for change today at Chipotle
Support the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life by eating at the Market Heights Chipotle from 4 to 9:30 p.m. today. At checkout, tell the cashier about wanting to support the American Cancer Society and 50 percent of proceeds will be donated.
Nolan Creek meeting Thursday
The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality and the Texas Institute for Applied Environmental Research is having a meeting regarding the assessment of water quality and watershed based planning for the Nolan Creek/South Nolan Creek project from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Killeen Arts & Activities Center, 801 N. Country-western dance in Belton
The Belton Senior Activity Center, 842 S. Mitchell St., will have a country-western dance from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Thursday. Bill Harvey and Miles & Miles of Texas Band will provide music. Beating the holiday blues
Heritage Park Fitness is offering a class at 7 p.m. Dec. 6 to share tools and tips on how to “Lose Your Holiday Blues.” The free class is open to the public. Call 254-690-3488.
Block party at First Baptist Church
The First Baptist Church of Harker Heights. 100 E. Ruby Road, along with other churches, is hosting a family friendly party 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 7. The event will feature food, music by DJ Wolf, a magic show performed by Don Lentz, games, a bounce house, cake walk and a rock wall.
Skipcha Mountain holiday party Dec. 7
The Skipcha Mountain-Kachina Loop housing community is hosting its second annual Holiday Celebration from 4 to 8 p.m. Dec. 7. The block party will feature more than 2,000 luminaries, carolers, hay rides, candy cane stations and Santa. The event is free and open to the public, but organizers ask participants to bring two nonperishable items or a gently worn coat to donate.
Blood drive set for Dec. 13
