A new option for accessing physicians opens its doors at Seton Medical Center Harker Heights next week.

Wellstone Health Partners will have a ribbon-cutting and open house at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the medical office building next to Seton.

The physicians group was established last year to give doctors an avenue through which to practice medicine without having to maintain a private practice, according to wellstonepartners.org.

“The focus is really just to be a one-stop shop for patients and their health care needs,” said Don McKay, Wellstone practice manager.

Currently, there are 12 physicians within Wellstone: four family practice physicians, two orthopedic surgeons, two OB/GYN doctors, a pulmonary and critical care physician, a gastroenterologist, a general surgeon and an emergency medical technician.

“We recognize patients have a choice,” McKay said. “Our goal is to deliver personalized health care ... to the community.”

All doctors with Wellstone are on staff at Seton Medical Center and are board specialists in their fields, the website stated. The Harker Heights location is the second Wellstone clinic in the area. The first opened in Belton.

At the open house, residents will have the opportunity to tour the building and meet staff members, McKay said. “It’s a true multispecialty group here to support Seton Medical Center and Harker Heights. Accessibility is an advantage to the group concept.”
