Police answer 1,000 service calls last week

The Harker Heights Police Department received 1,000 service calls last week, including 12 reported thefts, said Sgt. Roosevelt Wilson Jr., police spokesperson.

The first incident was a theft of service reported at 3:30 a.m. April 15 in the 2100 block of Indian Trail. The suspect illegally dumped trash, Wilson said. The next theft was reported at 5:30 p.m. April 16 in the 900 block of Mountain Lion Circle, where police cited a 13-year-old.

Gas and packs of beer also were stolen. Those thefts were reported at 6:23 p.m. April 16 in the 2000 block of Heights Drive, at 2:54 a.m. April 17 in the 900 block of Indian Trail, and at 10 a.m. April 18 in the 600 block of East Central Texas Expressway.

Police are investigating the theft of jewelry and an undisclosed amount of cash reported in the 400 block of Jason Drive. Wilson said the theft was between April 1 and 18.

Thefts of other miscellaneous items were reported at 2 p.m. April 15 in the 2900 block of Cedar Knob Road, at 1 a.m. April 18 in the 300 block of West Veterans Memorial Blvd., and at 12:30 p.m. April 20 in the 200 block of East Central Texas Expressway.

“In most cases, they are cases of opportunity expected in businesses where the crime is premeditated and the suspect has a plan to go in and steal,” he said. “I advise citizens to secure their personal items where they are out of sight, to prevent theft.”

Police also arrested a man for allegedly stealing 31 packs of magic cards at 1:48 p.m. April 20 in the 2000 block of Heights Drive, Wilson said. Krisada Kulawong, 21, was charged with theft.

The theft of a dual stereo system for a boat, taken between Oct. 20 and April 20 in the 1100 block of South Amy Lane, is under investigation.

Police also indicated:

A wallet and cash were taken in a vehicle burglary reported at 6 p.m. April 15 in the 100 block of West Robin Lane.

Keys, a wallet and a GPS were taken in a vehicle burglary reported at 9 p.m. April 15 in the 4200 block of Pawnee Trail.

A GPS was taken in a vehicle burglary reported at 7 p.m. April 15 in the 4100 block of Pawnee Trail.

Military items were taken in a vehicle burglary reported at 1 a.m. April 17 in the 1400 block of Indian Trail.

Car speakers, amplifiers, a stereo, purse and cellphone were taken in a vehicle burglary reported at midnight April 18 in the 1100 block of Indian Trail.

A MacBook laptop and iPad were taken in a vehicle burglary reported at 5 p.m. April 17 in the 600 block of Frontier Trail.
