Crime Trends Vehicle burglaries reported over holiday weekend

The Harker Heights Police Department received numerous vehicle and residential burglary reports in the past week and over Memorial Day weekend, said Lt. Loretta Fox of the Harker Heights Police Department.

The first reported incident was at 8:30 a.m. May 23 in the 2200 block of Calumet Drive. Suspects broke into the vehicle and stole a cell phone. A burglary of a residence was reported at 4:15 p.m. May 25 in the 1100 block of Indian Trail.

Another vehicle burglary was reported at 9:02 p.m. May 27 in the 200 block of Blackhawk Trail. Suspects stole a Glock 30 handgun from a vehicle. Police also reported a burglary of a vehicle at 6:10 a.m. May 28 in the 300 block of Blackfoot Drive. Suspects broke into a vehicle and took a cell phone and GPS.

Another burglary of a vehicle was reported at 6:40 a.m. May 28 in the 800 block of Rattlesnake Drive. Suspects damaged a vehicle window and stole a wallet.

A vehicle burglary was reported at 7 a.m. May 28 in the 200 block of Mockingbird Lane, and another vehicle burglary was reported at 12:01 a.m. May 28 in the 100 block of West Arlo Road. Suspects stole a wallet and GPS.

No arrests have been made in any of these crimes.

“Do not keep valuables inside your vehicle,” Fox said. “Cars are too easy to get into and burglarize.”

Police also indicated:

  • A theft was reported at a residence at 11 a.m. May 25 in the 300 block of South Amy Lane. Suspects stole an orange BMX bicycle.
  • A theft was reported at a business at 5:19 p.m. May 24 in the 200 block of East Central Texas Expressway. Suspects stole two pink Playstation 3 controllers.
  • A robbery was reported at 3:50 a.m. May 26 in the 2300 block of Indian Trail. Suspects assaulted the victim and stole a wallet, cigarettes and sunglasses.
  • A theft was reported at a business at 7:03 a.m. May 26 in the 900 block of Indian Trail. Suspects took gasoline from the business without paying for it.
  • A criminal mischief complaint was reported at 8:45 a.m. May 26 in the 100 block of Suzanne Lane.
  • A theft was reported at a business at 8:12 p.m. May 25 in the 200 block of East Central Texas Expressway. Suspects stole four Nintendo Wii remotes.
  • A theft was reported at a business at 5:06 p.m. May 26 in the 2000 block of Heights Drive. Suspects stole handbags and clothing.
  • A theft was reported at a business at 9:33 p.m. May 27 in the 200 block of East Central Texas Expressway.
  • A criminal mischief complaint was reported at 6:30 a.m. May 28 in the 1100 block of Dorothy Lane.
