Coat drive benefits homeless students

Harker Heights is hosting a coat drive through Oct. 31 to benefit the Killeen Independent School District’s Homeless Awareness Response Program.

Donation boxes are at City Hall, 305 Miller’s Crossing; the Recreation Center, 307 Miller’s Crossing; and the Stewart C. Meyer Library/Activities Center, 400 Indian Trail.

Volunteer drive today

The Harker Heights Parks and Recreation Department will host a volunteer drive from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the Activities Center, 400 Indian Trail.

Interested individuals can check out available volunteer opportunities and fill out the mandatory team member packets.

City hosts blood drive

Harker Heights is hosting a blood drive from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 18 at City Hall, 305 Miller’s Crossing. Donors will receive a coupon for a free pint of Blue Bell ice cream, a free Blue Bell blood donor T-shirt, a chance to win four movie vouchers and a chance to win a $50 Visa gift card.
