Harker Heights vs. Temple

Harker Heights senior running back Marcus Anderson II finds daylight against the Temple defense on Oct. 25.  Anderson had 91 yards on 17 carries despite being slowed by an ankle injury.

Two Harker Heights seniors earned first-team honors on the 2013 8-5A All-District team announced Monday.

Running back Marcus Anderson II overcame an ankle injury suffered early in district play to rush for 1,005 yards and four touchdowns, garnering a first-team nod on the offensive side of the ball.

Defensively, senior Cody Kipp was named to the first team as a tackle after manning the interior line for the Knights and even contributing on the offensive line.

Senior offensive lineman Joseph Alaniz was named to the second team while a pair of Knights, junior Justin Ellis and senior Quincy McKennon, were named to the second-team defense. Quarterback Troy Smith, who started his second season under center as a junior, was named to the second team as a punter.

Heights finished the season 2-8, missing out on the playoffs with a loss to Copperas Cove in the final week of the season.
