The Knights open their District 8-6A schedule tonight, hosting Waco Midway at 7 p.m.

It will be Harker Heights’ only district game prior to the holiday break. District play resumes Jan. 2, when the Knights travel to play San Angelo Central.

Harker Heights enters tonight’s game with a two-game win streak after defeating Dripping Springs 52-45 on the road.

The Knights held a 12-9 advantage following the first quarter and inflated it to 20-14 at halftime before outscoring the Tigers 32-31 in the second half.

Dillon Gooding led Harker Heights with a game-high 22 points, including 12 in the fourth quarter, while teammate Jaquan Tillis finished with 14 points.

Prior to its encounter with Dripping Springs, Harker Heights posted a 1-2 record at the Cypress tournament.

After falling to Class 5A No. 1 Waxahachie 88-57 and Houston Spring 66-61, the Knights rebounded with a 71-51 victory against Conroe.

Gooding led the team in scoring in the final two contests, combining for 49 points in the outings.

Following tonight’s game, Harker Heights will take part in the annual two-day Killeen Classic, beginning Dec. 27 before resuming its district schedule.

SOCCER

Harker Heights is just weeks away from opening its schedules.

The Knights begin their season Jan. 4 at Dripping Springs before playing two games in the following two days, traveling to Bastrop and Hutto.

Harker Heights’ home opener is set for Jan. 16 against Arlington Bowie.

The Lady Knights will take part in an alumni scrimmage Dec. 28 and compete in their final scrimmage Jan. 2 at home against San Angelo Lakeview before beginning the regular season Jan. 5.

The Knights have four scrimmages on their schedule.

After alumni scrimmage Dec. 28, they will travel to scrimmage College Station and A&M Consolidated on Dec. 29, and then play Pflugerville Hendrickson on Jan. 2.

District 8-6 competition begins Jan. 23.

SOFTBALL

The Lady Knights recently released their schedule for the upcoming season.

Harker Heights opens its regular season Feb. 13 at Temple and embarks on its district schedule Feb. 27 against Belton.

The Lady Knights will scrimmage Salado on Jan. 29, Killeen on Feb. 2, take part in a multi team scrimmage Feb. 3 and play Gatesville on Feb. 6. The team will also hold an alumni/family day on Feb. 10.
