Killeen senior Ceida Williams, Cove seniors Brittany Gamble and Bryaunea Hall, Gatesville junior Kayla McGiboney and Lometa junior Mikhaila Barnett make up the Killeen Daily Herald’s All-Area Girls Basketball Second Team.
Williams was a leader for a young Lady Roo team that was filled with numerous freshmen and sophomores. Williams helped the Lady Roos finish in a tie for second in district and make it to the postseason.
Williams was named to the District 8-5A all-district second team after shooting 44 percent from the floor, averaging 7.1 points, 6.8 rebounds and 1.2 steals per game.
Gamble and Hall made the best out of their senior seasons this year and almost helped the Lady Dawgs get back into the playoffs.
Cove started 1-5 in district play, but came back to win six of its final eight district games to finish just one victory short of qualifying for the playoffs.
Gamble was an all-district first-team selection after scoring 15 points per game while Hall was a second-team selection.
McGiboney was a District 8-3A all-district first-team selection after helping Gatesville advance to the bi-district playoffs.
Barnett helped Lometa reach the Class 1A, Division II playoffs and scored 16 points against No. 12-ranked Round Top-Carmine.
