AUSTIN — One year after Temple outdueled Austin Westlake in a wild 49-42 shootout, the Chaparrals returned the favor on their home turf – and in heartbreaking fashion for the Wildcats.
Temple seemingly was in total control as it led 35-17 only 4 minutes into the second half Friday night at Chaparral Stadium. But Westlake took advantage of a pair of Wildcat fumbles and outscored penalty-plagued Temple 28-6 the rest of the way, with Jordan Severt’s 10-yard touchdown pass to Patrick Elliott with a minute left, lifting the Chaps to a dramatic 45-41 victory.
