LAMPASAS — Lampasas jumped out to a 14-3 lead by the end of the first quarter and never looked back, cruising to a 61-24 victory in its District 8-3A opener against Brownwood.

After taking a 30-10 advantage into halftime, Lampasas limited the Lions to just one point in the third quarter.

Shonderius Howard scored a game-high 12 points for the Badgers, while teammates Gary Spencer and Marcus Morrison added 11 and eight points, respectively.

Lampasas improved to 8-12 overall with the victory.

No. 19 Lometa 87, Star 37: At Star, all 12 Hornets scored, led by Shane Stone’s 20 points, as 19th-ranked Lometa rolled to a 50-point win on the road.

Eric Nichols (15), Kyle Molter (12) and Pedro De Luna (10) also scored in double figures for Lometa (13-5, 3-0 28-1A, Div. II). Kendall Willis and Ivan Jasso each had eight.

Lometa outscored Star in every quarter and led 51-14 at halftime.

No. 22 Salado 73, Cameron Yoe 46: At Cameron, Tyler Ramthun led all scorers with 20 points to help No. 22 Salado cruise past Cameron Yoe.

Salado (19-3, 5-0 District 22-2A) broke the game open early by outscoring Yoe (1-4) 20-8 in the opening quarter.

Dane Hankamer added 18 points and Kole Hearne chipped in 12 for the Eagles.

Salado looks for another district win on Tuesday when it hosts Rogers.

Jarrell 69, Florence 57: At Jarrell, Alfredo Pena scored 15 points, but the Florence Buffaloes couldn’t catch up in a road loss to Jarrell.

Jarrell outscored Florence 17-4 in the opening quarter, but Florence rallied and cut Jarrell’s halftime lead to 33-32.

Parker McNeil and Wyatt Odom combined to score 21 points for Florence.

The Buffs look to rebound on Tuesday when they travel to Little River Academy.


Salado 47, Cameron Yoe 28: At Cameron, Taryn Kornegay scored a game-high 14 points to help the Salado Lady Eagles beat Cameron Yoe.

Taylor Atwood added 11 points for Salado (16-6, 4-3 District 22-2A) who opened the game by outscoring Yoe (0-7 District 22-2A) 15-4 in the first quarter and never looked back.

Salado begins the second round of district play on Tuesday when it hosts Rogers.
