At Johnson City, Blanco scored the go-ahead run in the top of the eighth inning to hand the Badgers their first loss of the season, 9-8, in their opening game of the Johnson City Tournament.

Lampasas (4-1) rebounded from the loss by scoring five runs in the bottom of the second inning against Granger and beat the Lions 10-8 later in the day. The Badgers play Llano today at 1 p.m. in a consolation game.

Trey Beauregard was 2 for 4 with an RBI and two runs scored and Collin Bower was 2 for 3 with a double and four RBI in the Badgers’ loss to Blanco, which led 5-3 after the fifth inning.

The Badgers scored five runs in the top of the sixth inning to take an 8-5 lead, but Blanco tied the game with three runs in the bottom of the inning and won in the eight.

Beauregard was 1 for 3 with two RBI and Chism Carpenter was 2 for 3 and scored a pair runs in the win over Granger.
