HOLLAND — Shali Simpson scored 12 points and dished out five assists to help the Lady Buffaloes rout Dime Box 32-14 on Saturday and finish third in the Holland Tournament.
Florence took a 9-8 lead after one quarter, then held Dime Box to six points the rest of the way.
The Lady Buffs (4-4) finished 2-2 in the five-team round-robin event, bouncing back from Friday losses to Holland (49-24) and Snook (37-17).
Simpson was selected to the all-tournament team.
Mexia 68, Salado 54: At Mexia, Dane Hankamer scored a team-high 14 points and Kyle Heiner 10 in the 24th-ranked Eagles’ loss to Class 3A Mexia.
“They were really an athletic team,” said Salado head coach Kenny Mann. “We had a rough night shooting.”
Florence 61, Dime Box 52: At Holland, Florence defeated Dime Box in the Holland tournament led by Wyatt Odom’s 16 points. Also for Florence, Mason Lansford scored 10 points.
“We closed this game out with a strong fourth quarter,” said Florence head coach Danny Wood. “We played a lot of full-court, man-to-man press in the fourth quarter which created a lot of turnovers which led to some easy points.”
