At Belton, Braden Hammon nailed four 3-pointers and had a game-high 25 points while senior post Daniel Mills added a pair of 3s and 14 points to lead the host Tigers over the rival Wildcats for a win in the District 8-5A opener for both schools.

Belton pulled ahead with a 12-4 second quarter and led 19-15 at halftime, but Temple cut it to 35-34 entering the fourth quarter to make it game. Belton (6-8, 1-0 8-5A) held firm at the free throw line, shooting 16 of 23 for the game to seal it at the line. Temple was led with 18 points from Devin Penn.
