Former Killeen quarterback Michael Cummings was recently recognized by the a University of Kansas leadership organization.

Sigma Alpha Lambda, a national leadership and honors organization at the university, recognized Cummings as a member.

According to a press release, Sigma Alpha Lambda "is dedicated to promoting and rewarding academic achievement and providing members with opportunities for community service, personal development and lifelong professional fulfillment."

Cummings is a sophomore quarterback for the Jayhawks' football team  who played eight games last season as a redshirt freshman and started five against Oklahoma, Texas, Baylor, Texas Tech and Iowa State.

He completed 43 of 94 passes for 456 yards and three touchdowns and rushed for 123 yards and a touchdown on 49 carries last year. He is expected to back up Jake Heaps for Kansas this season.
