Soon-to-be Harker Heights sophomore Kiani Sheppard will defend her No. 1 state ranking when she competes in the 2013 West Texas Junior Champions Tour Championship on Aug. 1-2 at Scott Schreiner Golf Course in Kerrville.

Sheppard is currently ranked as the state's top golfer in the girls' 12-14 year-old division with 240 points with an undefeated tournament record this summer, winning all nine of the events she's participated in.

Sheppard was the lone female golfer to compete for the Lady Knights last season.

Also holding onto the top spot in her age group is Lampasas rising senior Morgan Rogers, who leads the 15-18 year-old division with 190 points
