After going into the season with high hopes and a slew of seniors, the Bulldawgs finished with just two wins - seventh place in District 12-5A.

"We didn't accomplish what we wanted to," coach John Jackson said. "It wasn't due to lack of effort, but we ran into obstacles we weren't able to overcome."

The biggest challenge was scoring goals. The Bulldawgs struggled to find the net with any consistency, and only possessed three real offensive threats: Jaime Tamez, Adrian Ramirez and Donovan Murchison.

With no scoring, Cove often played from behind and was forced to send extra players on the attack.

"We stayed in a lot of games thanks to our defense, but we really struggled to score," Jackson said. "That forced us to play catchup and that would open holes in our defense."

Cove will lose 10 seniors to graduation this year. It will cause a large vacancy on the soccer team.

"It's huge to lose all those guys," Jackson said. "It's the largest group we've had. But we'll start Monday on rebuilding on setting things up."

Copperas Cove 4, Shoemaker 0 - Jamie Tamez scored twice to cap a 4-0 shutout of the Grey Wolves and end the Bulldawgs' disappointing season on a high note.

Donovan Murchison and Adrian Ramirez also scored for Cove. Mike Roell earned the shut out.

Ellison 2, Copperas Cove 2, OT - With both teams out of postseason contention, the Ellison and Copperas Cove boys soccer teams played for pride.

Cove junior Adrian Ramirez had plenty of it as he scored both of the Bulldawgs' goals, including the equalizer off of a breakaway with 11 seconds remaining in the second overtime as his team and the Eagles battled to a 2-2 tie at Leo Buckley Stadium on Saturday.
