At Burnet, Gatesville scored 16 points in the fourth quarter, doubling its production during the first three quarters combined, but it was not enough to upset District 8-3A’s best team.

The Bulldogs (15-8, 5-0) jumped out to a 12-7 lead after the first quarter and held an 19-11 advantage at halftime before taking a 29-16 cushion into the fourth quarter. Gatesville’s offense, led by Seth Martin’s 14 points, finally came to life in the final period, but could not make up for its slow start. Danny Byrd added 10 points to complement Martin’s output as the Hornets fell to 12-14 on the season and 3-2 in district.
