With only a week left before the spring game, the Bulldawg quarterback position is still a wide-open race. And the decision on the starter may not be made until mid September when Cove begins district play.

Bulldawgs offensive coordinator Tracy Welch said Cove may use the first three games as a battleground to see which quarterback rises to the top.

“It’s likely that we use our non-district games as a measuring stick for our quarterbacks,” Welch said. “It gives us a good chance to see what each can do against live competition and a defense they don’t already know.”

Head coach Jack Welch said that the Bulldawgs will go with just one quarterback in district play. He does not want a rotation or a quarterback tandem.

All four quarterbacks — Tanner Brock, Dakota Dollar, Nick Green and Cody Vaughn — are viable options.

SIGNING DAY: Two more Cove athletes are inking their national letter of intents today (Thursday).

Track star Tyesha McFarlin will sign with Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and Zach Bengston is going to Austin College to play tennis.

The duo makes 16 student athletes who have signed to play their respective sport at the college level in the last academic year.
