The Lady Bulldawgs had no trouble in their District 8-5A opener, beating Temple in straight sets to begin defense of their 2012 championship.

The Tem-Cats (0-1) were unable to score 10 points in any set as senior Qiana Canete finished with 22 kills and five blocks for Copperas Cove. Katy Ranes and Mikayla Blount led the Lady Bulldawgs (26-6, 1-0) in assists with 21 and 19, respectively, while Destiny Henderson had a team-high 13 digs, and Katy Ranes served four aces.
