Cove volleyballers outlast Midway for No. 1 seed in playoffs

TEMPLE — Qiana Canete had 27 kills and five blocks and the Copperas Cove volleyball team outlasted Waco Midway 22-25, 25-16, 25-22, 23-25, 15-7 in a first-place tiebreaker Friday night at Temple High School.

The Lady Dawgs will be the No. 1 seed from District 8-5A and will play Duncanville on Tuesday night at 7:30 in the first round of the playoffs at Waco Midway High School. The match will be the second half of a doubleheader. Fourth seed Ellison takes on Mansfield at 6.

Bryaunea Hall added 12 kills and three blocks for the Lady Dawgs (39-7).

Lily Drever led Cove with three aces. Mikayla Blount had 31 assists, and Lexi Perez tallied 40 digs.
