Cole Edmiston opened the floodgates with a 20-yard touchdown run and added three more through the air to send Gatesville back to the playoffs following a convincing 41-7 victory over host Llano.

Edmiston combined for 373 of the undefeated Hornets’ 512 yards of total offense, including passing for 294 yards on 21 of 29 attempts while Gatesville’s defense held the Yellowjackets to just 179 yards.

The win kept Gatesville (8-0, 3-0), which missed the playoffs last year after back-to-back trips, atop the District 8-3A standings with games against fellow district leader Brownwood and Liberty Hill, which was upset by Burnet 44-36 on Friday.

Following his 20-yard score four minutes into the game, Edmiston hit Tyler Jaynes for a 52-yard touchdown to pull ahead 13-0 with 1:03 left in the first quarter and then found Matthew Wallace for 6-yard score 2:20 into the third to go ahead 27-7. Edmiston capped the scoring with a 26-yard touchdown to Hunter Dean with 5:18 left in the game.
