Ellison scored twice in the second half to improve to .500 in league play with a 2-1 win against Copperas Cove on Friday at Ellison High School.

The win was particularly important for the Eagles (4-7-2, 3-3 8-5A) as they remained in the thick of the district standings, sitting one game out of second place.

Eagle senior Anthony Harlan scored the first goal of the game in the 52nd minute and, shortly after that, Lateef Ali scored an Alex Fuerte-assisted goal for a 2-0 lead in the 56th minute.

Cove cut the deficit to one goal again with 7:31 remaining in the game but wasn’t able to catch up to Ellison, which picked up a key win at home.
