GRANGER — Defending 2A girls singles champion Tristan Brunson of Florence outlasted a tough rival in the semifinals then cruised in the championship of the Granger Tournament on Friday.

Brunson had little trouble in the tourney, except from district rival and 2A semifinalist Jacie Talbot of Rogers. Brunson prevailed 8-5 and lost only two other games on the day, both in an 8-2 victory over Taylor’s Morgan Cemerek in the finals.

Brunson began the day with an 8-0 win over Smithville’s Ashley Vinklarik.
