FLORENCE — The Buffalo offense didn’t have much trouble hitting the ball or getting runs home, but it was their defense that had its share of struggles.
Despite a pair of hits from Peyton Person at short, the Buffaloes fell to Rogers 17-4 in four innings to open District 22-2A play.
“We still have some of our growing pains and we’ve talked about those issues growing up,” Florence head coach Ronny Allen said. “Right now the key position is just playing with confidence. We gave them four or five outs an inning and that never helps either.”
Luke McNeil was 1 for 1 with a run scored while Logan Hallmark and Grayson Decker both went 1 for 2.
Florence committed four errors in the home loss.
Despite the loss, Allen said he was encouraged from what he saw from freshman Tyler Heine at second and the offensive output.
“We hit the ball well. We had our opportunities. We just didn’t get it done defensively today,” Allen said.
Florence looks to rebound when it hosts Cameron Yoe on Thursday at 1:30 p.m.
