Lampasas scored on offense, defense and special teams, routing Smithville 47-6 and giving first-year head coach Brian Emerson a win in his debut Friday at Smithville.

Gary Spencer ran for 143 yards and two touchdowns, Steven Jazdyk scored on a 89-yard kickoff return and Bobby Joe Nielsen scored on a 25-yard interception to give Lampasas a season-opening win and match its win total from all of last season.

Jazdyk’s kickoff return opened the second half and the rout. He and Spencer scored on runs of 61 and 62 yards, respectively in the third quarter. Charlie Wood caught a 12-yard touchdown pass from Logan Irvin in the fourth before Nielsen’s interception return.

Irvan and Spencer each scored on 6-yard runs in the first half to give Lampasas a 14-0 lead at halftime.
