That Temple scored first and last, racked up 469 yards of total offense and limited defending District 8-5A champion Midway to 59 rushing yards might indicate that the Wildcats achieved their desired goal Friday night.

Not so.

A 65-yard touchdown pass from Ben Hicks to Devontre Stricklin on Midway’s first offensive snap was a sign of things to come as Hicks threw for 477 yards and five scores to pace the Panthers’ 63-43 victory over Temple at Wildcat Stadium.
